2019-2020 Cultural Arts Events
PTA Cultural Arts Coordinator Ms. Eason and Advocacy Chair Ms. Marshallsea have been very active planning our cultural arts programs this year! Thanks to the United Arts Council for grants covering a portion of these programs!
We have dedicated a large portion of the PTA budget to the following programs.

- 2nd-4th grade: ComMotion, LLC will be doing a two day dance residency called Rhythms of the Latin World for students in grade 2,3, and 4 during their specials September 17th and 18th. Those students will learn about the countries from which the dances originated, and will do lots of dancing! This event is for Hispanic Heritage month and is 100% PTA funded! - K-5th grade: The Great Pirate Race is coming to PGES October 25th, 2019 1:45-2:30pm (K, 1, 5); 2:45-3:30pm (2,3,4),
- 5th grade residency: Black Box Dance Theatre November 4, 6-7. See more info here: www.blackboxdancetheatre.org
- Kindergarten-3rd grade: Rags to Riches Theatre will be performing The Owl and the Turtle on December 13th 9:30-10:10am (grades 3rd and 1st) and 10:25-11:05am (grade K and 2nd). See more info here: www.rags-to-riches.org
- Kindergarten-3rd grade:Charles Pettee: Bluegrass Stomp will perform on Friday, March 20th, 2020 at 9:30-10:15am. See more info here: www.charlespettee.com

2018-2019 Programs:
Ms. Eason, the Cultural Arts Coordinator, also secured a FREE performance from bluegrass musicians participating in the Bluegrass Festival at the end of the month. It's going to be an EPIC year!

- 5th grade: Comic artist Dave McDonald residency "Kids Make Comics" for the week of March 4-7.
- 4th graders: Mimi Herman, writer/poet, "Coming to America" residency November 13-16, and Monday Nov. 19.
- K-3 on February 9: Ananse the Spider, African folktale.
- K-1 and 2-3 December 7: The Story Ship with Sean Driscoll, The Circus King. (2 shows)
2017-2018 Programs
- October 2-6 2017: Sheila Kerrigan: Communicate! Collaborate! Create! Mime! Sheila will come to the school for a 5 day residency with grades 3-5. She will work with 3rd grade for 2 consecutive days, and 4/5 grade for the next 3 consecutive days. Additionally she will come to the school to prep teachers for this residency on 9/29.
- Friday Oct. 27 2017: Jody Cassell: Dancing Stories! Stories Come Alive! for K-2 students during first grade specials
- February 15 2018: Bright Star Theater: Tour 12. Two Shows during the day.
- K-2 Performance: Barnyard Bully
- 3-5 Performance: Black History Hall of Fame
- March 23 2018: Beverly Botsford Dancing Drums (Latin American music and drumming). Two Shows during the day; one show for K-2 and one show for 3-5.
